"It's Up To You" is a permanent installation which main purpose is to pay tribute to the 1980's youth culture and social struggles in Leeds. The main idea is to create a link between a vibrant common local heritage from really explosive times, and the young and even older generations, wherever they come from to the Art Hostel. We don't want to mummify this heritage or make it a piece of museum in an hostel room, we want to give to the visitors one key to the local identities. We do believe that our past have a role to play for today's youth, thank to the positive and negative aspects of collective experiences that people did in the last decades. Experiences that are, in general, really underestimated and very little known.
